A doctor, George Bush, a Priest, and a boy scout were on a plane when it started having engine trouble.

In spite of the best efforts of the pilot the plane started to go down.

Unfortunately, there were only 3 parachutes remaining.

The doctor grabbed one and said. "I am a doctor, I save lives so I deserve to live." And jumped out.

Bush then said, " I am the President and I am the smartest man in the world, so I deserve to live." and jumped out.

The priest looked at the boy and said " My son I have lived a long life, and you have a whole life to live, so you take the parachute."

The boy scout handed the parachute back to the priest and said "No worries, father. The "smartest man in the world" just took off with my backpack."

Went to my local library today and checked out two fairly interesting poetry books. I believe my taste in literature has expanded exponentially without my even knowing. I also checked out some movies (yes, the library has current dvd titles for free rental). One movie is titled The Fighter and stars Mark Wahlberg and Christian Baile. It's essentially a basic up and coming/underdog boxing tale. It's not as bad as I thought it would be.

In other news, I just revised my short novel The Sofa That Ate Everyone. I lowered the price and added a preview of my next book The Thing In The Desert. I updated the preview on the Home page of my site as well. I've also been busy working on a new poetry/short story collection. It will include lots of very new, fresh poetry and some other collected works such as An Almost Notion, Antiseptic Anarchism and possibly Momentous. I haven't decided on an absolute inclusion yet but I do know that it will include all of the shorts I've written so far and even a couple of unfinished ones. Oh and I would also like to include some really great photos of different artistic interpretations. I'll probably add those after the rest of the collection is complete. The title I've come up with so far is Flesh of the Muse. Be on the look out and check back here often. :-)

Brunette

Upset the brunette

She doesn’t like

To be alone

She only loves herself

And that’s no joke

She isn’t very beautiful but

She tries

Opposites unattract opposites

Same equals same

Duality is a bitch

No one cares to know

Why, how

It begins

Went to my local library yesterday. I usually make it a point to go once a week; sometimes twice. I've started to become interested in screen plays. Not just reading them but also becoming familiar with their structure and dialogue. I believe it is slightly easier to write a screenplay than a novel. Mostly because a screen play focuses on dialogue and a novel tends to focus on descriptive narrative. I recently read the screen play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams and found it to be a bit over dramatic but it does contain some great dialogue. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I have been toying with my own screen play idea. So far it is under the working title Because I Said So and it is a simple fish out of water type story. The main character, Van Confucius Schwartz, is an aspiring writer and is tired of his work going unrecognized in the small Texas town he grew up in. He makes plans to attend a writing/journalism school in New York and inevitably has to deal with the varied reactions about his leaving home from his friends, relatives and girlfriend. Oh and I also set it sometime during the early 1990's. I guess it does seem promising so far. I would actually love to see some local theater group act it out once it is complete. I believe people need to see more original plays nowadays. There are too many big budget movies bombarding our senses on a daily basis.

I will post a preview of my screenplay soon. Maybe in the next week. :-)

Took a break from writing in order to celebrate my Dad's birthday today. The whole family celebrated it at a wonderful Mexican restaurant called Los Cunados. They have a really great breakfast buffet there during the weekends. Then we went to my sister's place for cake and the ceremonial opening of gifts. I honestly didn't know what to get my Dad for a gift so I went with a book light since he is always reading books on sociology and history. I thought about getting him a book but I figured he has enough books to read for a while.

In other news, I did complete Antiseptic Anarchism and uploaded it for FREE download (as with the rest of my work). It is only about ten pages long and is a good, quick, succinct read. I thought about printing out a hundred copies of it and handing it out to people at super markets and other public places but I think I'll wait a bit before doing that. I want to make sure people are going to read it first. We shall see. As always, I am working on more ideas for poems and stories. I guess you could say I have become enamored by my own poetic side. I don't know why but I really feel like it will either lead me to something else or allow others to see the world through my eyes. Either one will do nicely. :-)

I have embraced Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass! It so succinctly describes all the observations I too have written about. There is no denying it. You could say that it has inspired me to maintain my die hard focus on my own poetry. Just last night I was inspired to start working on my own succinct collection of poetic thoughts. They are all flowing and intermingling. Just like Walt I want to break the traditional form of poetry and prose. It is the only path that a writer/poet can take. It is the one path I must take.

All I have done today so far is post a lot more vital information on facebook pertaining to the Occupy Wall Street movement/protests/revolution. It has begun to spread like wild fire. There are even other countries beginning to show support for the movement. It is truly amazing and an awesome time to be living in. Future generations will be talking about this for some time to come and it will be in all the history books (digital or other form)! www.occupywallst.org

Other than that, I have been writing/typing away and formulating some story ideas and new poem ideas. I very quickly decided to start writing another poetry e-book. It will be my forth and perhaps most interesting. So far it is titled Antiseptic Anarchism. The title came to me as I was reading Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. Somewhere in the intro he wrote something about how he believes the poet to be the antiseptic of the world. That really struck a chord with me and I got this image in my head of a very altruistic way of life. My poetry seems to be taking on a new form as of lately and I do hope that it continues down that path. :-)

Revolt like you mean it

Burn in effigy

If need be

Let them laugh

And accuse

Re-learn

Disorder

Is not fate

Plausibility

Is a factor

Revolt because

You can

Because it

Flows through

Your veins

There is no pain

Greater

Than the pain

Of oppression

Rise up

And shout

Demonstrate

Your clout

You do have Power

We do have Power

March! March on!

Revolt because we need it!

This poem is dedicated to the current Wall Street protests and the entire movement that is spreading across the country and around the globe. Occupy Wall Street! Occupy the World!

Just today I was thinking about what it would have been like for authors such as John Steinbeck, Leo Tolstoy or H.G. Wells to have been able to utilize the internet for their self-publishing needs.

For the longest time I never considered self-publishing any of my work because I wanted to go the traditional route. But then I realized that I am not a "traditional" kind of person and ran down the path of self-publishing e-books and never looked back. I have made sure to make the majority of my work available for FREE on my personal website. I'm not in the business of making obscene amounts of money from my writing and I don't believe any true writer is. I just want to share my work with as much people as I possibly can during my lifetime. I'd rather my work be honored and praised posthumously. Only then does the world take notice of quality literature. Well, most of the time. Until then... I shall keep my laptop, pens and notebooks close to me at all times.

On another note... I completed my third poetry e-book An Almost Notion yesterday. I have uploaded it to the FREE E-Books section. I forgot to mention it in yesterday's blog post because I was wrapped in the protests going on. Feel free to download it, read it, share it. :-)

LONG LIVE THE REVOLUTION! www.occupywallst.org
